It is never fun to live with hemorrhoids. That’s why you are looking for the best essential oils for hemorrhoids. Right?
Since hemorrhoids occur in inconvenient locations, they are not only painful but also embarrassing. They make it very uncomfortable to sit in the restrooms during long calls.
Hemorrhoids are swollen veins around the anus. If they occur outside the rectum, they are called external while if they occur inside the rectum, they are called internal.
I had a friend who suffered from a severe case of hemorrhoid and it got worse whenever she was pregnant.
Truth is, hemorrhoids are quite common. In fact, about 10 million Americans suffer from this disease every year. (Source)
There are various reasons why they occur, but the good news is, there are natural ways to treat them.
Symptoms of hemorrhoids include:
Sometimes you might not notice that you don’t have them especially if you don’t experience any symptoms.
When the veins of your anus are exposed to too much pressure, they get inflammed and swollen. Increased pressure in your lower rectum can, therefore, lead to swollen veins (hemorrhoids).
Below are some of the causes of hemorrhoids.
Hemorrhoids can lead to various complications even though they happen in sporadic cases. (Source) Such complications include anemia and strangulated hemorrhoid.
Anemia can occur if one loses too much blood. If you lack enough healthy red blood cells to transport oxygen to your cells, this may be likely to happen.
On the other hand, strangulated hemorrhoid occurs when the blood supply of an internal hemorrhoid is hindered. That causes the hemorrhoid to be “strangulated” something that causes unbearable pain.
I know you’ve heard this saying a lot, “prevention is better than cure”. This is particularly true with hemorrhoids. Since they are very painful, you can make the following efforts to avoid them:
You need to drink at least eight glasses of water daily. Alcohol is not counted in this case. Drinking enough fluids softens your stool preventing you from getting constipated or having hemorrhoids.
You can get fiber from foods like whole grains, vegetables and fruits. This softens stool, increases its bulk, and helps you to avoid straining during bowel movements. Keeping stool soft helps to prevents hemorrhoids.
Exercise keeps your body active, which reduces pressure in your veins after standing or sitting for a long period of time. Exercise aids you to lose weight that might be a contributing factor to the hemorrhoids that you have.
Long period of sitting especially in the toilet increase pressure in your anal veins.
Do you hold your breath when trying to pass out stool? You may feel like doing this sometimes due to constipation, but straining actually increases pressure on the veins of your lower rectum.
As soon as you feel the urge to pass out stool, don’t delay. Delaying bowel movement puts pressure on your rectum. If you delay, it might also cause your stool to be dry and harder to pass.
