Ways to Reduce the Appearance of Cellulite Naturally!

Is there a way to reduce the appearance of those dimpled areas that have appeared on your thighs and other areas of your body?  Find out some ways others like you are using to reduce the appearance of cellulite.

It’s important to note that getting rid of cellulite completely is impossible.  However, don’t despair as you can still reduce the appearance of cellulite if you do the right things and use the right methods.

Here are some ways others like you have used to help reduce the appearance of cellulite naturally.

1. Exercise

Exercise is one of the top ways to reduce cellulite.  Why?  It helps to increase circulation and reduce the appearance of fat deposits that cause the dimples referred to as cellulite.

The best exercise is weight bearing types – walking, jogging, dancing, climbing stairs, and playing tennis, racquetball, and pickleball.

Also, toning your muscles with the use of weights or by using yoga can be helpful.  How does it help?  Toning and firming the muscles will tighten the skin, thus reducing the appearance of cellulite.

2. Healthy Diet

To be on a healthy diet it is important to stop eating processed and canned foods, simple carbohydrates, and refined sugar.

Try to cut down on dairy, wheat, yeast, soy and fermented foods.  Also, cut out foods that contains corn syrup or artificial sugar.

Go for organic foods and eat raw vegetables and fruits as often as possible. Use fresh dark green veggies (such as kale) and fresh fruits.  You can mix them in smoothies and juice.

Fiber is important to have in your diet if you wish to reduce cellulite.  It is found in whole grains, vegetables, and fresh fruits.

Fiber takes the place of empty-calorie foods, thus will fill you up faster, and help with weight loss.  Losing weight can help decrease the fat in those cellulite-prone areas.

3. Slow and Steady Weight Loss

Slow and steady weight loss goes hand in hand with a healthy diet.  Guess what?  Even skinny people can have cellulite, but carrying extra weight definitely makes the problem more visible.

Take care when choosing a diet.  Don’t go for a fast weight loss type diet. Slow and steady weight loss is the best.

Why? Losing weight fast, then gaining the weight back and more (because it’s hard to remain on a low low calorie diet for long) can cause saggy appearing skin and worsen the problem over time.

4. Stop Smoking/Vaping

Stop smoking, and yes, vaping.  Both can cause harm to a lot of organs, including the largest organ of the body, your skin!

How? It contains nicotine.  Nicotine decreases the blood supply to your skin. It dehydrates it!  This causes the skin to get thinner and thus more likely to sag and wrinkle.  Sagging makes the cellulite more visible.

5. Drink Plenty of Clean Source Water Daily

Drinking water, whether it be a fancy bottled water, mineral water, or tap water from a reliable source is important to your overall health.  Water cleanses the impurities from our bodies.

It helps with the body’s overall circulation, both the blood and lymphatic systems.  Water nourishes the many living cells that are a part of you, and helps your kidneys to rid the toxins that you get from the environment, etc.

How much should you drink per day?  If you are a healthy adult, who is not on fluid restrictions, then some medical sources say to drink up to 9 or even 13 cups (95-131 ounces) of fluid per day may be appropriate.

Other sources say that it depends on your body, your sex, your age, your medical history, etc.  Some may do fine with 7 to 9 cups of water a day, or even less.

Most of us are not drinking enough water a day.  If you are one of these people first ask your physician what daily amount is appropriate for you.

If you need to increase the  daily amount of  water intake then start slowly.  Add up to 1 cup water per week to the amount you normally drink, until you have reached the recommended daily amount.

It is important to talk with your physician if you have any medical problems, especially kidney problems, before increasing fluid amounts.

6. Add Ginger, Peppermint or Matcha Green Tea to Diet

Try adding ginger, peppermint, and matcha green teas to your daily fluids.  Drinking ginger, peppermint, and matcha green teas is said to help reduce cellulite.

These teas have antioxidants in them which are thought to be skin repairing and and help with regrowth. This means they may help to repair some of the damage occurring under the layers of skin.

So by drinking these teas, not only will you be enjoying an uplifting cup of tea, but you could also be helping fight cellulite.

7. Vitamins and Minerals

Certain vitamins and minerals can be helpful for keeping your skin and underlying structures healthy.  Increase your intake of vitamins B and C, and ensure you are getting enough zinc.

If you feel you don’t eat a healthy diet consider taking a good daily multivitamin like this one, or this one if you are over 50.

If you make sure your diet is rich in the following vitamin and mineral containing foods you might be able to skip that supplement.

Vitamin B Rich Foods

Vitamin B is found in  salmon, tuna, leafy greens, sweet potatoes, eggs, legumes (beans, lentils, and garbanzo beans), avocadoes, oats, organ meats, beef, poultry, and milk products.

Whole grains which includes brown rice, barley and millet and some seeds and nuts also are high in vitamin B.

Consider adding these vitamin B rich seeds and nuts to your diet: sunflower seeds and peanuts, walnuts, and almonds.

Vitamin C Rich Foods

Vitamin C rich foods include citrus and non citrus type fruits and some vegetables.  For citrus think oranges, lemons, limes, and grapefruit.

Other non citrus fruits rich in vitamin C include apples, kiwi, papaya and guava.

Vitamin C rich vegetables include sweet type peppers, cauliflower, broccoli, Brussel sprouts, and cabbage.

Zinc Rich Foods

The natural sources of zinc are legumes like chickpeas, lentils and beans along with seeds, nuts, and whole grains.

To boost your intake of zinc think nuts such as pine nuts, peanuts, almonds and cashews (this one is especially high in zinc).

Pumpkin seeds is a seed that is a good source for zinc.  A good whole grain source is oats.

8. Bottle or Spray Tan

A bottle tan – Yes, you read correctly. A tan from a bottle can help by darkening the skin if you are fair.  This can help as cellulite is less noticeable on darker skin.

It is important to exfoliate your skin first.  You can use this DIY vanilla latte coffee scrub recipe, or this DIY orange spice emulsified sugar scrub recipe.

Then spray or apply the self tanning product to cellulite appearing areas first. Next apply product all over.

It is important to note that sun bathing is not the way to go – it damages your skin and thus worsens the cellulite problem.

9. Dry Skin Brushing and Massage

Dry Skin Brushing helps to increase circulation. This in turn promotes circulation and lymphatic fluid drainage which overall is thought to help the appearance of cellulite areas.

Be sure to use a brush that is made with real bristles like this one. Brush your whole body, paying particular attention to problem areas.  Brush using upward movements.

Massage improves your blood flow to the area and helps rid the excess fluid. Doing so can make the bumpy areas less noticeable for a while.

You can massage the areas when you are taking a shower, or even when you are applying lotion.

10. Retinol Rich Firming Cream

It is important that when you look for a “firming cream” that you look for one with retinol in it. Find one with at least 0.3% retinol.  Try to get one with moisturizing ingredients in it as retinol can be drying to the skin.

Using retinol type firming cream is not quick acting. It can take 6 to 8 months before you begin to see effects. It helps by thickening your skin’s outer layer. This thickening effect helps to cover the lumpy-bumpy areas underneath.

11. Wear Support Stockings

Add wearing compression support stockings to your daily regime.   Support stockings aren’t just for varicose vein problems or Granny. Make it a habit to wear good supportive (compression type) support stockings.

So why wear these compression support stockings?  In the long run it will help your legs to look smoother.

How??  These support stockings can help keep fluid from accumulating in those cellulite (lumpy) areas. Remember I said “in the long run” – this is not instant help – it can take a year or more!

12. Get Quality Sleep

Sleep is important to our general well-being so get enough sleep!  There are multiple studies on the effectiveness of sleep for our health.

Getting a good nights sleep improves the quality of our life, can help prolong our life, regenerates us, reduces our stress level, etc.

It is especially important as sleep is the time our body make repairs, especially to our cells – that includes our skin cells!

A study done at the University of Chicago found that in the case of dieting a good nights sleep helped the weight loss with more loss of fat.  They determined that those who didn’t get a full nights sleep lost the weight, but not as much fat.

This is important as losing body fat can help some with the appearance of cellulite.
